PUDUCHERRY: A magisterial inquiry was ordered into the  death of a trade union leader  of Regency Ceramics M S Murali Mohan, who died in police custody at Yanam, allegedly due to  police lathicharge on Friday.Revenue District Officer (RDO)  of Kakinada was conducting the inquest and post mortem of the deceased is being done at Government General Hospital at Kakinada in Andhra Pradesh.Yanam which witnessed severe violence, arson and looting on Friday, was under control, said chief secretary M Sathiyavathy. “The region has been incident-free since last evening,” she added. Both district collector S B Deepak Kumar and  DIG I D Shukla were currently in the region to monitor the situation.  Three platoons of police from Andhra Pradesh and another 80 personnel from IRBn have been deployed to prevent any attempts of violence and maintain law and order.   Several cases had been filed including murder, damage to police station, looting, preventing  police from discharging their duty, said Sathiyavathy.The government will be posting a regional administrator at the earliest to take care of the administration. Yanam is without a regional administrator after P Jawahar was relieved by the administration earlier this week for taking up his new posting in Andaman and Nicober islands.Prohibitory orders under Sec144 Cr P C  have been clamped in the region and would continue till required. Such a violent development had never been reported from Yaanam.
