'There is no story in the film and if you still find any, it’s purely your imagination.’ That’s the message that will appear on screen before the film begins, says debutant director Kamalakannan, speaking about his flick, 'Madhubaanakkadai'. The movie is about the happenings at a TASMAC shop in Erode on a single day, he says.
'Madhubaanakkadai' is not based on a character or a situation but a compilation of happenings at a bar in Erode. “Regulars at liquor shops will connect with the movie,” the filmmaker says.
An ad filmmaker, Kamalakannan is self taught, and says he doesn’t drink. “But I spent two and a half months visiting many liquor shops, meeting different types of drunkards and choosing actors for the movie,” he says.
The movie is likely to hit screens in July.
