BANGALORE: Four persons including a child suffered injuries in a suspected LPG cylinder explosion in Yeshwantpur police station limits on Thursday. The blast was reportedly triggered by a cylinder burst, which ripped through a three-storey building in Yeshwantpur. The injured have been identified as Khausar Khan, 48, Sabeena Khan, 38, Mumtaz Khan, 28 and Nahima, 6.The incident is said to have taken place at 11.45 am. All the four victims resided on the third floor of the building which is behind Yeshwantpur RTO. “The asbestos roof of the building was damaged in the blast. The neighbouring building too has suffered minor damages,” police official said.According to the police, the victims lived in a small house and had kept LPG cylinder near the washing machine. Fire personnel suspect that the gas pipe was damaged and when one of the injured person tried to switch on the washing machine, due to short circuit, blast might have taken place.Injured victims were admitted to a private hospital. Police have registered a case and are investigating.Special Team Set Up to Crack Jewellery Robbery CaseA four-member special police team has been constituted to crack the Chemmanur jewellers robbery case in which miscreants sprayed pepper powder and made away with jewellery worth lakhs of rupees on Wednesday. The team is headed by ACP of Yeshvantpur Sub-Division N Hanumanthappa. The special squad was formed by Deputy Commissioner of Police H S Revanna to crack the case.
