MYSORE: Noted writer and Rangayana director Lingadevaru Halemane, 62, died of a massive cardiac arrest on Tuesday night at his residence.
Halemane, who returned from Shimoga on Tuesday, complained of chest pain soon after he went to bed. He was rushed to Apollo Hospital where he was declared brought dead. He is survived by his wife Nanda and two daughters. Cremation will be held on Thursday at 11 am in Halugodu village, Tumkur district.Halemane was born in Halugodu village of Chikkanayakahalli taluk of Tumkur district on March 6, 1948, and actively participated in theatre activities.

He bagged four gold medals in Kannada from Manasagangothri and joined the Central Institute of Indian Languages(CIIL).

Halemane joined Rangayana as director and successfully organised Bahuroopi theatre national festival to celebrate the 150th birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore.
