THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: ‘The Indian Ruminations’, the literary web journal for Indian English writing, has announced its awards for literary excellence as part of the first Indian Ruminations Literary Festival-2011 to be held in the city on September 24 and 25. The awards were announced separately for both Indian English writing and regional language writing (Malayalam) in two sections - poetry and prose (Fiction/nonfiction). A distinguished jury comprising of veteran writers selected the winners. Amit Upadhyay of Delhi has bagged the award for the Best Fiction in English for his work ‘Evil is Evil Good is God’. Keralite Nayanathara has won the award for Best Poetry for ‘The Scent of Frangipani.’ In the Malayalam fiction/non-fiction and poetry section, the award goes to Rajesh Chithira for his ‘Unmathathakalude Crash Landingukal’. Two writers share the fiction/non-fiction award for this year;Sulfikkar for his work ‘Fernhill’ and Ajoykumar M S for ‘Angane Oru Mambazhakalam’, both non-fiction. The awards comprise of a citation and a cash prize of Rs. 10,000 each and the award will be given away during the Indian Ruminations Literary Festival.
