KOCHI: Land acquisition process to kick-start the construction of the service road beneath the North ROB, began on Monday. ROB project manager S Sriram confirmed the start of the work. “Similar to the old service road, the new one will also facilitate the vehicles to enter the bridge and join traffic smoothly,” Sriram said.According to the officials, the land needed for the construction of the service road has been acquired. They said that the land acquisition was done without causing any trouble to the people. “Within the area, only 13 residential properties will be affected by the construction of the service road. We have also decided to acquire some land from the front of the Town Hall for the same,” said District Collector Sheik Pareeth. The people will be provided a compensation of `23 lakh per cent for their land which will be acquired for the project. The administration agreed on the amount after holding discussions with the people concerned. The officials said that 80 per cent of the land has been acquired and the remaining would be completed soon.
