Kolkata: One more person, injured in the January 7 Lalgarh massacre, on Friday succumbed to the injuries at SSKM hospital in Kolkata. The total death toll in the massacre has now gone up to eight.
As a result, pressure seems to be piling up on the West Bengal government ahead of the Assembly polls.
Governor MK Narayanan will visit Netai village, the ground zero of the January 7 massacre, next week.
The Election Commision too will send a team to Lalgarh for an assessment.
Earlier on Thursday, the Governor had a meeting with Home secretary GD Gautama and DGP N Mukherjee to discuss the situation in Lalgarh.
Meanwhile, the Calcutta High Court will on Friday decide whether to allow a CBI inquiry into the killings in Lalgarh's Netai village.
A petition was filed in the High Court seeking the central agency's probe into last week's killing in which 7 villagers were allegedly killed by CPM cadres.
Home Secretary Gautama had filed an affidavit saying there was no need for a CBI inquiry as the CID was already investigating the case.
