Labourer dies as roof caves in, 3 injured

BARGARH: A labourer, Appa Rao (50), died on the spot while three other labourers sustained injuries on Wednesday night after portico of the Vikash Engineering School caved in while laying concrete.Though Rao was rushed to a private nursing home and later to the district headquarter hospital (DHH), he was pronounced dead.  The  injured labourers have been admitted to DHH and their condition is stated to be stable.The work had been outsourced to a contractor Ramana Reddy and the structure caved in while work was in progress.  The support base could not take the load and collapsed under pressure, sources said. A case has been registered. Rao was a native of Visakhapatnam.
