Kiran Mazumdar Shaw regrets praising Narayana Murthy's son in tweet

Bangalore: You may express regret over a tweet attacking or criticising somebody. But, you don't do it for praising somebody. Bangalore's corporate world has witnessed one such rare incident on Wednesday. Kiran Mazumdar Shaw, chairman and managing director of Biocon apologized for her tweet praising Rohan Murthy, son of the Infosys chairman NR Narayana Murthy.

Shaw, who is also a member of the Infosys board had tweeted last Saturday that she was impressed by a presentation made by Rohan Murthy before the Infosys Board. "At recent Infy Board Meeting I was most impressed by Rohan Murthy's brilliant tech loaded presentation which will enormously benefit Infy (sic)," she tweeted.

But the tweet kicked off a row in the corporate sector for making board room details public. The people who advocate the best corporate governance slammed Shaw for the tweet saying that she had set a bad precedent in the corporate world.

Shaw has now tweeted expressing regret over the mistake.

"I apologize for this inadvertant and improper tweet on Rohan Murty - I agree it was incorrect to do so," she wrote.
