Chennai: Legendary Tamil actor Kamal Haasan turns 54 on Friday. The phenomenal actor director, scriptwriter of Tamil cinema has requested his fans to refrain from celebrating his birthday this year as a mark of protest against the mass genocide being practiced in neighbouring Sri Lanka.
Kamal Haasan made his acting debut as a child artist at the age of six in the Tamil movie Kalathur Kannamma in 1960. He was first recognised as an actor in Apoorva Ragangal in 1975. With films like Nayagan, Pushpak and Moondram Pirai to name a few, the actor established himself as a commercially viable star.
Simultaneously he also showcased his unparalleled acting prowess which extended to Bollywood hits like Chachi 420 and the powerhouse of talent has evolved as a director and scriptwriter over the years.
His latest film to hit the marquee is Dasavatharam in which he portrayed ten different characters and get-ups.
