New Delhi: Sacked CWG OC chief Suresh Kalmadi, who is currently lodged in Tihar jail, will be admitted in the All India Institute of Medical Sciences for a medical check-up. "He needs comprehensive evaluation and on August 1 he will be admitted in the AIIMS neuro sciences centre for a short duration," an AIIMS medical report of Kalmadi said.

"He needs to undergo certain tests and investigations. So we will admit him here for a few days," a doctor said. A three member team of doctors - Dr MV Padma, cardiologist Dr Rakesh Yadav and Dr Aarti Vij - has been formed to conduct tests on him. Kalmadi will be taken to AIIMS at 9 am on Monday.

Kalmadi, who in jail for his alleged involvement in CWG scam, was first taken to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital on July 12 after he complained of dizziness.

"After tests, the hospital referred him to Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Hospital to undergo an MRI test of the brain. The MRI was done on July 19," DIG Tihar Prisons RN Sharma said.

The test results stated in medical jargon, "Diffused cerebral atrophy with old ischemic changes in brain parenchyma with calcified granuloma in caudothalamic groove on left side (of his brain)".

"After reading the MRI reports, DDU doctors advised us to show him to a good neuro specialist either at AIIMS or GB Pant hospital. Kalmadi being an MP requested in writing to be admitted at AIIMS. That is why he is being taken there for further treatment," Sharma said.

Sixty seven-year-old Kalmadi was first taken to AIIMS on July 28 for medical investigations and doctors opined that he be admitted there for a 'short duration'.

After the check-up, Kalmadi had dismissed reports that he was suffering from dementia, a disease related to memory loss.
