HYDERABAD: The Chanchalguda prison officials on Thursday turned down Kadapa MP YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s request to have mulaqats (meetings with visitors) more than once a day in view of heavy flow of visitors who include many politicians and bureaucrats. On Thursday, five visitors, including Eluru MLA Alla Nani, were not allowed to meet Jagan as he had already had five mulaqats/interviews since he entered the jail four days ago.According to the jail norms, a convict can have two mulaqats in 15 days and an undertrial two mulaqats a week. But in some special cases, the superintendent or in-charge superintendent of a prison can permit more interviews. In each mulaqat, up to five members can meet the jail inmate for 30 to 45 minutes.Jagan, an undertrial, met his wife Bharathi and YSR party leader YV Subba Reddy at 11.30 am on Thursday and spoke for about 40 minutes. At 12:30 p.m, Alla Nani came to the jail to meet the YSR Congress chief but was turned away. Later, the MLA was reportedly allowed to meet the YSRC president.
