TIRUCHY/KUMBAKONAM: Income Tax officials on Wednesday conducted searches at Kalyan Jewellers as part of a nation-wide raid on the jewellery shop.A team of officials, led by Deputy Director of Income Tax Albert Manoharan, conducted a surprise raid at the shop at Big Bazaar near Rockfort Temple around 12.30 pm and business was suspended till 2.30 pm.Officials, who were tight-lipped about the raid, seized a few documents and took along with them.Earlier, the officials arrived at Kalyan Jewellers on Thanjavur Main road in Kumbakonam. While some official checked jewels and diamonds, others were busy in digging out details from computers in connection with the income and expenditure.During the search operation, no worker was allowed to go out, sources said and added that the search continued till evening.
