New Delhi: There has been another India-Pakistan confrontation, this time over the death of Indian prisoner Chamel Singh. Government sources have told CNN-IBN that India has not received any reply from Pakistan on why it took two months to conduct Chamel Singh's autopsy.
In fact, CNN-IBN has learned that Pakistan has not yet responded to India's request for the autopsy. This comes as Pakistani authorities rejected India's claims that Singh died of torture at the Lahore jail.
The jail staff reiterated that his death was caused by a sudden stroke and heart attack. Singh, said to be in his sixties, was declared dead on arrival by doctors at the state-run Jinnah Hospital on January 15. His body was brought here from Pakistan on March 13.
India had asked Pakistan to provide a "full report" about the circumstances surrounding the death of Chamel Singh and a copy of the post-mortem report.
