New Delhi: South Africa has indicated that it will lobby for India to reconsider the ban on its gunmaker Denel.

India's recent decision to re-tender the requirement for heavy artillery may just have created the opening for Denel to bounce back.

The South African company was blacklisted by the UPA Government in 2005, following unsubstantiated allegations of kickbacks during the NDA regime.

The ban resulted in Denel being expelled from the selection process for India's multi-billion dollar artillery deal.

South African Defence Minister Dr Dlamini-Zuma has now expressed confidence that there was no wrong-doing by Denel.

"If it has, the law will take its course. But I'm not aware if it has," says Dlamini-Zuma.
