Panaji: Delegates for the forthcoming International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2011 won't have to pinch their pockets much with the organisers making arrangements for affordable food and low cost accommodation.
"The delegates would be provided a tent accommodation at the IFFI village, 2 kms away from the main venue on the banks of Mandovi river," said Manoj Srivastava, Chief Executive Officer, Entertainment Society of Goa (ESG), a nodal agency to host the festival.
Srivastava said the tent accommodation is charged as low as Rs 200 per bed per night. Shuttle services have also been pressed into service, which would be available right from 8 am till midnight to ferry the delegates from the festival venue to their accommodation, he said.
The affordable accommodation in the IFFI village has been receiving tremendous response, mostly from the students, according to the organisers.
"There will be police security round the clock and medical facility at these tents," Srivastava said.
After receiving complaints about non-affordable food at the festival venues, IFFI organisers have designed a special meal package for the delegates.
A rice-thali would cost as low as Rs 50 at a dining hall located in the historic Old Goa Medical College complex, an 18th century-old building.
A cup of tea, which cost Rs 20 last year, would now be available for Rs 5.
IFFI director Shankar Mohan told a news conference that the festival this year would be more people-friendly.
