New Delhi: Day one inside the Bigg Boss house saw some drama, some cattiness and celebrity guests trying to make sense of each others’ past choices while preparing for the long haul.
Nihita Biswas, the wife of notorious serial killer Charles Sobhraj, on Monday fielded tough questions from other inmates of the Bigg Boss house on her decision to marry the convicted criminal. But the 22-year-old eventually broke down when asked why she chose to spend the rest of her life with Sobraj who is currently behind the bars in a Nepal prison.
"These are happy tears. I can die in his (Sobhraj) arms," Nihita said when fellow inmate Pooja Bedi asked her what led her to marry a con artist known as the Bikini Killer across the world.
Sobhraj, who is of Indian and Vietnamese origin, has monikers like 'the serpent' and 'the bikini killer'. He allegedly committed at least 12 murders throughout Southeast Asia during the 70s, targetting mostly the Western tourists.
He has been behind bars in a Kathmandu prison since 2003 and fighting a legal battle in three courts there with each of them convicting him in connection with the murder of an American tourist in 1975.
Nihita, a Nepali student, met Sobhraj when she was 19. An emotional Nikita stressed "I could die standing on the other side of the bars of his prison. He has not had a fair trial. Not even an FIR was filed in Nepal for the crimes he is said to have committed."
"We are just demanding a fair trial. It is a basic thing that we are asking for. He has been illegally convicted. He has been kept as a hostage in an illegal place. We would challenge the verdict in other court," Nihita said.
