New Delhi: The special court in Mumbai is likely to give its verdict on Saturday on 26/11 terror accused Ajmal Kasab's age.
The medical investigation has been completed and the prosecution and defence have presented their arguments. The medical inquiry found that Kasab is over 20 years of age while his lawyer, Abbas Kazmi has been arguing that Kasab was only 17-years-old at the time of the crime and that he should be tried by a juvenile court.
On Wednesday, defence lawyer Abbas Kazmi examined three witnesses and put on record the margin of error in dental and ossification tests.
The time given for Kazmi to study the chargesheet also ends on Saturday.
Dr Sudhir Nanandkar, who was part of the medical team which examined Ajmal, said the committee had unanimously concluded the age to be above 20.
As Kazmi was recently appointed Kasab's lawyer, the court decided he needed adequate time to scan the bulky chargesheet and prepare his arguments.
The court also rejected Kasab's plea seeking Urdu translation of the chargesheet saying it would further delay the trial. This voluminous document of 11,000 pages contains a large number of reports on the investigation.
