Hospital head sacked over death of 6 pregnant women
Reports say the death were caused by administrative lapses in the hospital.

Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Health Minister Anoop Mishra has ordered to remove superintendent of Sultania Hospital, Dr Neeraj Bedi following deaths of six pregnant women in the hospital within 15 hours, sources said.

Six women admitted to the hospital died between Saturday morning and Sunday afternoon.

Official sources said that Mishra ordered the removal of Bedi on Sunday. A senior doctor with the hospital Dr Aruna Kumar will take the charge from Bedi, they said.

Most of the six women died in the hospital, meant for women and children, belonged to the age group of 25-30 years.

Dr Bedi said that of the six women, five died due to pregnancy related complications while the sixth was brought dead.

He also said that four of these women were referred to Sultania by other hospitals.

A three member team sent by health ministry to look into the reasons for deaths noticed administrative lapses in the hospital leading the minister to order Bedi's removal.
