Heatwave conditions are very likely in isolated pockets of west Uttar Pradesh from June 22 to 25 and over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Delhi on June 24-25 and abate thereafter, the IMD's latest forecast said

Heavy to very heavy rainfall with extremely heavy falls is very likely over Kerala, coastal and south interior Karnataka, Konkan, Goa, and central Maharashtra during the next 4-5 days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted on Saturday afternoon.

Heatwave conditions prevailed in isolated pockets of southwest Uttar Pradesh. Maximum temperatures were in the range of 40-42°C in some parts of west Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, in isolated pockets of Haryana-Delhi and Gujarat, the latest report said.

The highest maximum temperature of 44.6°C in the country on Friday was reported at Orai (west Uttar Pradesh).

Heavy to very heavy rainfall with extremely heavy falls occurred at isolated places over Konkan, heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places over Goa, Lakshadweep, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, east Rajasthan, and heavy rainfall at isolated places over coastal Andhra Pradesh, central Maharashtra, Kerala, sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Jharkhand, Odisha, Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, coastal Karnataka, and Telangana.

According to the IMD, conditions are favourable for further advance of the southwest monsoon into some more parts of the north Arabian Sea, Gujarat, remaining parts of Maharashtra, some more parts of Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar, and some parts of eastern Uttar Pradesh during the next 3-4 days.

A cyclonic circulation lies over interior Odisha and adjoining Chhattisgarh in lower and middle tropospheric levels. Another cyclonic circulation lies over northeast and adjoining east-central Bay of Bengal in lower and middle tropospheric levels.
