Heavy rains lash several parts of Chennai

CHENNAI: Heavy rains lashed several parts of the city and its suburbs last night with weathermen predicting more showers during the next two days.The rains were due to the formation of convection in the atmosphere, Met sources said, adding rain or thundershowers were likely to occur over Tamil Nadu and Puducherry in the next two days.Maximum rainfall was recorded at Poonamallee, Pallipattu and Chembarambakkam with 10 cms each.Redhills, Tamaraipakkam, Chozhavaram received eight cms each while Chennai, Tiruttani and Arakkonam received seven cms each, the ssources said.
