Heavy rain causes traffic jams in Bangalore, 9 die in rest of the state

Bangalore: Heavy rain caused traffic jams across Bangalore. It rained till morning at most places in and around Bangalore resulting in water logging.

Residential areas in many parts of the city have been inundated. The rain has also spoiled the Ganesh Chathurthi celebrations at several places.

According B Dayananda, Additional Commissioner of Police, Bangalore, traffic is moving very slowly in many parts of the IT city, causing long jams in business districts.

The rain has claimed nine lives in different parts of Karnataka in the last two days. Five people have been killed due to heavy rain in Gulbarga district. Police say they died due to lightning. It has also destroyed standing crop in thousands of acres of agricultural land.

Chikballapur and Mysore districts have also received heavy rain in the last two days. Met department is predicting intermittent rain till October.
