HYDERABAD: A division bench of the AP High Court comprising chief justice Nisar Ahmad Kakru and justice Vilas Afzalpurkar on Thursday suspended the order punishing senior IAS officer Ranjeev R Acharya to two weeks of civil prison.The bench also suspended the jail sentence against director of mines BR Sushil Kumar.Justice PV Sanjay Kumar last month had faulted the senior bureaucrats for prolonged delay in executing a sand quarry lease in favour of Sode Ramulu of Khammam.The duo were sentenced to 15 days imprisonment and were imposed a fine of `3,000 each while dealing with a contempt case against them.The bench made the interim order while admitting the two statutory appeals.The judge was dealing with a contempt case filed by Sode Ramulu of Khammam, who had bid over Rs. 1 crore in a sand auction at Khammam.
