BANGALORE: The High Court on Thursday directed the Medical Superintendent of Victoria Hospital to appear before the court and explain the reason for his delay in submitting the health report of the multi-crore stamp paper kingpin Abdul Karim Lala Telgi.During the hearing of the plea, counsel for Telgi, Shankarappa submitted that despite the court’s order to furnish medical status report of the petitioners, the jail superintendent and medical superintendent have not taken the matter seriously.Stating that there is deliberate delay in submitting the report, the counsel submitted that Telgi is suffering from several ailments like diabetes mellitus, hyper tension, retroviral infection, nephropathy, neuropathy and hypothyroidism.Seeking directions to furnish health report, the petitioner submitted that the respondents have disobeyed the court order.Justice V Jagannathan, who heard the matter, directed the Medical Superintendent of Victoria Hospital to appear before the court and explain the reason for the delay in furnishing the report. Telgi, who has spent his nine years and eight months in various prisons of the country, has filed a bail plea before the High Court and has contended that the prosecution is unnecessarily delaying the process of his bail. He contended that since the day of his arrest, Telgi is housed in prison and is entitled for bail.
