HYDERABAD: A  mammoth 2.7 crore people registered for Aadhaar cards, but hardly half of them have received the cards in the first phase of the project between January 2011-2012 in the state. Now, the government wants to begin the process all over again for those who have not received the cards. The applicants who have enrolled for Aadhaar or UID cards but did not receive them, have to register afresh because many of the earlier registrations were bungled up by the operators/supervisors, who were mostly unqualified staff, at the Aadhaar registration centres. This means, they would have to go through another round of ordeal - long wait in queues at Aadhaar centres and then a long process of enrolment for each family  member.Recently, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has revised its strategies for Aadhaar card enrolment for the second phase following the first phase fiasco. “The UIDAI has asked the state government to start the second phase soon with the new strategies,” civil supplies department director KRBHN Chakravarthy said.“We will start the second phase of Aadhaar card enrolment in all districts in the state from the end of May at the authorised centres of the civil supplies department (CSD). The department may not give the contract to private firms this time,” he said. As per the new norms, operators or supervisors for enrolment centres have to take training from the civil supplies department and clear a UIDAI test before they are recruited.
