A body representing state government engineers in Rajasthan has threatened to launch a month-long sit-in from June 24 seeking, among others, pay parity with their Central government counterparts.
"Although the sixth pay commission was adopted in the state, pay scales of engineers from (junior) to chief engineers is (in the grade of) state teachers and principals," GS Bhadoria, convener of the Federation of Rajasthan Engineers (FRE), told a press conference here today.
FRE claims to represent over 20,000 engineers from the power, water, PWD, public health and engineering and other departments.
"Every engineering department should have promotion avenues through cadre review. If our demands are not met during the sit-in, FRE will hold a 'vishal chetawani rally' here on July 31," he said.
Bhadoria called for finalisation of the Krishna Bhatnagar Committee set up to revise the pay regimes of engineers and also demanded promotional scales upon completion of 6, 12, 18 and 24 years of service.
FRE said it will start a campaign in each district to spread awareness about their campaign before the commencement of the sit-in.
