THRISSUR: District Collector P M Francis on Wednesday said that the treatment expenses of the mishap victims would be covered by the government. M P Vincent MLA promised the relatives of the dead urgent financial relief. The injured in the mishap have been admitted to the intensive medical care of the Goverment Medical College, Thrissur. Jophy, owner of the unit, is a valid licence holder and one of the major firework suppliers for the festivals in the state. The unit is located on top of a hillock near Mulamkunnathukavu and has been functioning for the past eight-years, according to the locals. City Police Commissioner P Vijayan who led the rescue operations said, the police are investigating if the land where the unit functioned has a licence to stock explosives. Meanwhile, a 6 year-old-boy, Atul Krishna, who lives nearby, suffered minor injuries on his ear from a piece of glass on a window which broke in the blast.
