Four held for bid to kidnap Vellore businessman

PUDUCHERRY: The Police on Tuesday arrested four persons from Cuddalore in connection for a bid to kidnap a Vellore-based broiler chicken unit owner from Puducherry on July 11. The arrested  were identified as Sivabalan (23), Karthik alias Karthikeyan (24), Appu alias Venkatesan (24) and AnandakumarPolice said the four were arrested in a different case by Cuddalore police and upon interrogation admitted to their involvement in the kidnapping. They also confessed to stealing his car. Recounting the incident they said that they had kidnapped Daniel in his car and were heading for Tindivanam, but were chased  by police personnel on patrol duty. After some distance they abandoned the vehicle with Daniel at a toll gate and fled.
