Fortis Hospitals announced the appointment of Vijayarathna Venkatraman as Zonal Director (Tamil Nadu). He has over 18 years of experience in health care organisations. Prior to joining Fortis Hospitals as the Regional General Manager in Bombay in November 2009, Venkatraman was Deputy General Manager (Operations) at Wockhardt Hospitals in Bangalore, where he served for more than 12 years from June 1997 to October 2009. He started his career with Apollo Hospitals in May 1994.
Whether it was Apollo, Wockhardt or Fortis, for Venkatraman, it has always been about performance improvement, leading change, growing revenue and profit, customer focus, nurturing people and operational excellence. Venkatraman takes pride in having contributed to this both directly and indirectly. Elaborating on his new role at Fortis Hospitals, Venkatraman says, “In a nutshell, all my efforts at Fortis Hospitals will be directed towards providing an environment in which the patients will get utmost care and satisfaction through clinical and operational efficiency. I would be constantly interacting with the clinical team to ensure high standards of patient care, while also managing our presence in Tamil Nadu as a profit centre.”
Some of his professional achievements include the ideation of a Virtual Family Visit service at Wockhardt Hospitals, development of the telemedicine solution, and scripting a smooth transition from a single specialty cardiac hospital to a multi specialty hospital with the launch of Wockhardt Hospitals in Bangalore.
