Chris Lewis was detained at Gatwick Airport in London with 4 kg of cocaine.

New Delhi: Former England all-rounder Chris Lewis has been arrested on charges of drug smuggling.

Lewis was detained on Monday at Gatwick Airport in London with 4 kilogram of cocaine and will appear before the Crawley Magistrates’ court.

He was travelling back to England from St Lucia in the Carribean when he was detained after cocaine was found to be concealed in fruit tins. The contraband was discovered as part of routine checks.

Lewis played 32 Test matches and 53 One-Day Internationals for England.

The estimated street value of the seized drugs is 200,000 pounds.
