Fire at tyre godown in Birsa Nagar

A fire on Sunday broke out at a tyre godown in Birsa Nagar locality in Jamshedpur, police said.

Around ten fire-fighters were engaged for over fours hours in dousing the devastating fire but could not control it as yet, sources said.

No causality was reported in the incident, sources said adding that the exact cause behind the fire could not be ascertained.

An alarm was raised after people spotted smoke billowing from the godown and informed the fire-brigade sources, which immediately rushed to the spot.

The exact loss of property could not be evaluated but it was estimated to be in lakhs, sources said.

Around ten truck loads of four-wheeler tyres were stored in the godown from where the tyres used to be supplied to various companies including Tata Motors, sources added.
