A 34-year old fruit vendor was allegedly robbed of Rs 20,000 by a duo posing as cops here on Monday night.
Police said, Rajesh, a resident of Kavan Kinaru in Puzhal, was on his way back home after closing his shop, when he was intercepted by a duo who acted like cops and sought documents of his vehicle. Deceived by their looks and well-built bodies, Rajesh parked the vehicle nearby and was fishing for the documents when the duo attacked him with a pointed weapon before fleeing with the money. Retired TNEB Staff Burglars robbed a house in Kodungaiyur here on Monday and decamped with Rs 2 lakh and some valuables, police said.
According to police, the house belonged to Karunanidhi, a retired employee of the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board (TNEB).
On Monday, Karunanidhi and his family returned from Coimbatore to find that the back-door of their house had been forced open.
Inside, they found cash gifts received during their son’s marriage in August last year, along with eight sovereigns of gold jewellery, missing. A case has been registered with Kodungaiyur Police.
