Fake cop held for blackmail attempt

COIMBATORE: The city police have arrested a “policeman in mufti” who tried to blackmail a man by alleging immoral trafficking and threatening to prosecute him.B Rajan (35) of RS Puram was approached by a man on Saturday who said he was a policeman and had received a complaint of flesh trade against him and demanded `10,000 for not booking a case. Rajan agreed to pay `6,000 but informed the police about this. Police reached the spot and the arrested the man. They found that K Vijay (36) of Vadavalli, pretending to be a policeman, was trying to blackmail Rajan.
