VIJAYAWADA: The Satyanarayanapuram police arrested Boda Vijay Premkumar and Devarakonda Venkata Naga Aswini Kumar on Sunday for extorting money from a trader by posing themselves as police and reporters of electronic media.According to cops, Bommisetti Ravi Kumar, a dealer in paints of Krishnalanka, complained that a girl telephoned him on July 10 and told that she was waiting for him at the nearby bus stand. He met the girl and took her to his friend’s room. In the meantime, six miscreants entered their room and claimed themselves as police. After thrashing him, they took the photos of Ravi and the girl in a compromising position. Showing the photos, they started blackmailing him. They demanded Rs 5 lakh to return the photos to Ravi. The miscreants took Ravi in a car to Chuttugunta, where the latter promised to pay the ransom. Ravi told them that his friend would bring the money. On seeing Ravi’s friend with a few others, the miscreants fled in their car after snatching Rs 10,000 and a mobile phone from Ravi. Cops intercepted the car at Poornanandampet.
