Express Staffer dies after battling for life

COIMBATORE: An Express staffer, P Purushotaman (45), who was battling for life for the past 13 days after being mowed down and dragged by a car driven by an inebriated man, passed away at a private hospital here on Thursday.The victim was walking along the Tiruchy Road in the early hours of August 27 when the car knocked him down and dragged for nearly three-and-a-half kilometre as his clothes got tangled with the rear portion of the vehicle.By the time he was rescued, Purushotaman suffered multiple fractures and lost most of the skin flap from head to toe. He underwent multiple plastic surgeries but developed renal complications. Doctors said he succumbed late Thursday afternoon.
