CHENNAI: Friday night saw some of the city’s most stylish people step out in their best attire to witness the second edition of the Globus Style Awards 2011. Wearing a stunning leafy green colour maxi dress by stylist Shruti Sai, Paloma played the perfect emcee for the evening, which brought together a large gathering of nominees and guests.And with a shared love of fashion and styling, Globus launched their autumn/winter collection 2011-12.  The mix of little black dresses (LBDs), exclusive festive collection, Globus casuals and Anams collection was a visual treat to the spectators.Stylist Pamela Galleogos, who was present at the Globus night to style the models with the autumn/ winter collection, said she was pleased to see a mix of demographics in Chennai. Head of Design, Globus, Shilee Sharma, said, “We have a great mix this year. This is the first time we have had a lot of stylish people participating in such shows. The response has been great.”The Globus Style Awards, now in its second year, is the brain child of Binu David Jacob, who realised that there were countless stylish men and women in Chennai who deserved recognition for their natural eye for fashion. The Chennai fashion-obsessed people came dressed in some beautiful outfits, which were not just appropriate for the occasion, but also made style statements. An array of stripes, colourful florals, daring leopard print and even satin jump suits was confidently modelled by the guests. Chunky, sky-high heels were popular among the young fashion enthusiasts, while classical fashionistas played it safe in black and white. Unlike other awards which are voted by the readers, the Globus Style Awards were decided by a panel of jury members, comprising Karun Raman, Vivek Karunagaran, Vidya Singh and Cary Edwards. Previous winners of the award too were part of the jury and chose the stylish people from different walks of life.Director Ravikumar was there to present the award for Stylish Singer under themale and female categories. Vijay Yesudas and Tanvi Singh took home the stylish awards. While Sonali Subbiah won the Stylish Stylist Award, Pooja Craig won the Stylish VJ Award this year. After accepting the award for Stylish Diva, Sneha Nair said, “Such awards provide an opportunity for future and current fashionistas to showcase their style quotient.”Stylist Pamela, who has worked with Elle Magazine, Mexico, said “Styling using Indian clothes was a challenge to me. The colours are bright and the silhouettes are conservative compared to Mexico. Here, the festive season and autumn/winter falls share bright colours. I felt it is ridiculous in Mexico. We follow a standard colour for autumn/winter. But again, Indian colours are rich and while styling, I had to break the norms and really try to put in a different style on the ramp.”
