BALANGIR: The Commissioner-cum-Secretary of the Department of School and Mass Education, Aparajita Sarangi, suspended two headmistresses and stopped salaries of as many teachers in Balangir on Tuesday. She was here on a visit to various schools in the district. After her arrival, she visited the Manoharpur ME School in Balangir town where the students revealed that they had not been supplied uniforms. When she demanded a clarification from headmistress Anandini Mishra, the latter could not give a satisfactory reply. Sarangi then suspended Mishra and asked a senior official of the school to take charge. She also pulled up the DI of School, Banajabasini Mohanty, who tried to shield Mishra. Sarangi also directed the DI of School to issue suspension order against Sunetanandini Sahu of Tikrapada UGME School in Balangir town who was found absent from the school without leave. During her visit to Chitadungri Primary School in Patnagarh, Sarangi suspended the headmistress Namita Mohapatra for not reporting at Kusumkani Primary School where she had been posted. She also directed to stop payment of salary of the headmaster of Ramai High School, Patnagarh, Anup Sahu besides headmistress of Guhuriamunda Primary School for delay in completion of painting work in the schools.
