HYDERABAD: Chief commissioner, land administration Pankaj Dwivedi will be new chief secretary of Andhra Pradesh, taking over from incumbent S V Prasad who retires on Friday. Dwivedi will take charge on Friday.Though chief minister Kiran Kumar Reddy wanted to give a threemonth extension to Prasad since the state was going through turbulent times, he declined. He is being appointed as the Vigilance Commissioner for a threeyear term though normally the term is only for two years.
Dwivedi belongs to UP and is the seniormost among IAS officers. He has service till June next year. Dwivedi played a key role in the preparation of the draft relating to Unified Authority intended to make land allotments to various companies in a foolproof manner, eliminating any scope for irregularities. He spent considerbale time in preparing the guidelines for the constituion of the authority which is expected to take a defintie shape soon.A postgraduate in history, Dwivedi first joined the state service as assistant collector on July 1, 1977. He was district collector in Warangal in 1985 and served in various capacities including special chief secretary to the Public Enterprises Department. He was principal secretary, agriculture, MCR HRD Institute before he was appointed as CCLA.
