BANGALORE: After residents and NGO activists opposed the Yediyur coucillor’s move to drain the Yediyur lake, reportedly, the draining work has been stopped. On Tuesday, it can be recalled that the concrete embankment of Yediyur lake was damaged and water from the lake was allegedly diverted into a storm water drain to install a 33-foot bronze statue of Swami Vivekananda. Vinay Srinivasa of ‘Hasiru-Usiru’ NGO said he visited the lake with other activists on Wednesday early morning and found that the repair had taken place in the lake bed. “The councillor might have instructed to repair the place,” he opined.
