Sony Pictures is reportedly planning to go ahead with the sequels of Stieg Larsson's best-selling trilogy.

New York: Sony Pictures is reportedly planning to go ahead with the sequels of Stieg Larsson's best-selling trilogy despite the poor box office performance of Daniel Craig starrer 'The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo'.

Directed by 'Social Network' helmer David Fincher, the film was billed as the next big thing but failed to live up to the expectations of the audiences.

However, the studio is moving on with the next two titles 'The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet's Nest' and 'The Girl Who Played With Fire.

Studio chief Pascal and producer Scott Rudin have not yet locked in David Fincher as director. But they're looking to start shooting the second film by the end of this year,Deadline reported.

'Dragon Tattoo' has amassed a USD 76.8 million domestic and is likely to touch USD 100 million.

The film's business was apparently hurt because of its R-rating and brutal scenes and the popularity of a Swedish version.
