BANGALORE: Unable to bear alleged dowry harassment, a newly-wed woman ended her life by setting herself on fire.The incident was reported at Nayandahalli in Byatarayanapura police station limits, on Saturday.Shwetha (23), a native of Kanakapura, had married Ravishankar, an employee of a private firm, eight months ago.According to the police, Ravishankar and his parents allegedly harassed Shwetha to bring more dowry and she was depressed over it.She had even informed her parents about the harassment.On Saturday morning, she went to the bathroom where she poured kerosene and set herself on fire.Though she was admitted to Victoria Hospital, she succumbed to her injuries in the evening.Ravishankar and his parents are absconding after the incident."Her parents have filed a dowry harassment complaint” the police said.
