DMK woman civic chief arrested for assault

VELLORE: The Katpadi Union Chairperson was held for assaulting an AIADMK ex-councillor on Monday.  The council meeting took place at the Katpadi Panchayat Union office on Monday. Out of a total of 12 persons in the Panchayat union including the chairman, eight belonged to AIADMK and four to DMK. However, Pramila Dayanidhi of DMK became the chairperson through a secret ballot. Since then, the members of both parties have clashed at every council meeting.  On Monday at the meeting, a total of 24 resolutions were read out and votes were taken to pass the resolution. However, three DMK persons and two AIADMK persons were said to have voted for the resolution. The chairperson passed the resolution by adding her two votes; one as a member and the other as the chairperson.  Following this, there was a clash between the two AIADMK members who supported the DMK’s resolution and the other AIADMK members. After sometime, the chairperson was brought out of the office for   attacking AIADMK ex-councillor, Anandhan. This led to the clash between the AIADMK and DMK members. Based on Anandhan’s complaint, Katpadi police arrested Pramila Dayanidhi and took her to the police station. The members of the DMK staged a ‘road roko’ in front of the police station.
