HYDERABAD: Leaders of different political parties in Telangana on Thursday took strong exception to the warning of director-general of police V Dinesh Reddy that Telangana protagonists would be booked under the Railways Act, 1989 if they take part in the proposed rail roko of TJAC from October 15.Telangana leaders belonging to all political parties declared that they would take part in the rail roko and were ready to face any police action.Telangana Congress Steering Committee chairman K Keshava Rao alleged that the DGP was provoking T activists by issuing stern warnings on the rail roko programme.Karimnagar Congress MP Ponnam Prabhakar said the police who failed to crack several important cases, were now eager to show their power against the people taking part in the rail roko programme of TJAC.The DGP seems to be hell bent on foiling the peaceful rail roko programme of the TJAC, the MP said.TRS MLA KT Rama Rao said the DGP was speaking like a political leader.“Dinesh Reddy should join politics and contest elections before making such statements,” Rao said.TRS MP Vijayashanti and MLA T Harish Rao also strongly reacted to the DGP’s repeated warnings on the rail roko programme.Vijayashanti said it was a pre-planned move of the Congress government to provoke T activists.Reacting to the tough stance taken by chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy and DGP Dinesh Reddy to foil the rail roko programme, CPI state secretary K Narayana said: “The statements of the chief minister and the DGP revealed their anti-Telangana stand.” Human Rights Forum (HRF) state president S Jeevan Kumar and secretary VS Krishna said DGP Dinesh Reddy who maintained that the chief minister gave the police a free hand to tackle the T agitation, was trying to create pani c among peopl e through his statements.Sakala Janula Samme is being organised peacefully for the past 30 days in Telangana.The stern warnings of DGP after so many days of the general strike, are aimed to dilute the T movement, they said.The Osmania University Students Joint Action Committee (OUJAC) burnt Dinesh Reddy in effigy at the Arts College denouncing his warnings.“We will go ahead with the rail roko come what may.Let the police register cases against us,” OUJAC spokesperson P Kailash said.
