New Delhi: Goan clubs are having a good time in the 28th Peerless Federation Cup.
Just a day after Salgaocar and Sporting Clube de Goa (SCG) made it the quarter-final, Dempo Sports Club scrapped past HASC, Bangalore, 1-0 too book its place in the last eight of the tournament in Kolkata on Wednesday.
The lone goal of the match came in the 26th minute when Antony Pereira scored for Dempo.
Dempo dominated the match, which was played at the Salt Lake Stadium match but failed to increase the lead.
Pereira's goal was an opportunistic one as he pounced on the ball after HASC goalkeeper Gumphe Rime had saved a Ranty Martin shot that had defelected off a HASC defender.
But Pereira was at the right place to shoot in the rebound.
As soon as the match started, Dempo went on an offensive but their strikes failed to take advantage of numerous scoring opportunities with the goal post also coming in the way once.
Dempo defender Valeriand Rebglo tried to score off a corner only to see the post coming in his way.
However, the second was slow-paced, as Dempo seemed to be happy with their lead while HASC players failed to weave any good move.
