New Delhi: In Tughlaqabad Assembly constituency which comes in the South Delhi Lok Sabha seat represented by Bharatiya Janata Party MP Ramesh Bidhuri, the residents are still waiting for basic amenities like drinking water and proper roads.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi "Swachch Bharat" has lost its meaning in the area as heaps of garbage are seen all over the area.
While Ramesh Bidhuri stays in a beautiful and big house, his area is full of garbage lying in the open.
There are no proper roads in Tughlaqabad which makes it very difficult to walk in the village as there is a foul smell.
"The cleanliness drive must be undertaken somewhere else but not in the home constituency. There has been no development here," says Kavita, a housewife.
For domestic use, women draw water by installing motors in the pipeline.
Before becoming an MP, Ramesh Bidhuri was an MLA from Tughlaqabad constituency and now the BJP has given ticket to his nephew Vikram Bidhuri.
But the area hardly seems to be a part of Delhi and the condition of Tughlaqabad village turns worse after rains as water accumulates and remains stagnant at many places for several days making it a breeding ground for disease-carrying mosquitoes.
Some development work has been undertaken in Prahladpur area where there are proper sewage lines and roads but still a lot needs to be done, say the residents.
"The work is being done just before elections. It is to be seen how long will it continue," says a woman who does not wished to be named.
