BHUBANESWAR: The State Government has decided to develop Cuttack City and its environs with an investment of Rs 18,940 crore. Out of that, the State Government’s share will be Rs 5,000 crore. Vision-2030, the comprehensive development plan (CDP) for Cuttack prepared by IIT Kharagpur, was submitted to Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik here on Monday. The Cuttack Development Project Area (CDPA) will include 48 wards of the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC), Charbatia, 28 wards of Choudwar municipality and 60 new villages.The population of the CDPA in 2001 was 6.66 lakh which is likely to grow to 15 lakh by 2030. The CDP has been prepared keeping in view the possible growth of the City and its nearby areas. The CDPA has been divided into Northern Fringe, Central Millennium City and Southern Fringe. Different development plans have been drawn up for Charbatia, Nirgundi, Chhatia, Choudwar, Nimpur, Bidanasi, Old Cuttack, Sikharpur, Mundali, Barang and Gopalpur. Industrial centres, logistic centres, residential projects, commerce, entertainment and cultural centres will be constructed for these areas separately.According to the CDP, the CDPA will require 2,68,000 houses by 2030. The daily requirement of water will also go up to 300 million litre by that time. The document has detailed proposals on drinking water facilities, sewerage systems and solid waste management for different areas under CDPA. Besides, there is also a proposal for setting up a special heritage area in the CDPA for protection of cultural and heritage places in the City. The CDP has also a proposal for setting up Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Urban Conglomerate Metro Authority (BCUCMA) for coordinated development of Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and its nearby villages.Minister of State for Urban Development Sharada Prasad Nayak, Development Commissioner RN Senapati, Prof BN Sengupta from IIT Kharagpur and senior officials were present.
