CSS Phase-I during Dasara holidays

CHENNAI: The first phase of the comprehensive security system (CSS) on the Madras High Court premises will be in place during the ensuing Dasara holidays, the Sate Home Secretary said in his counter-affidavit filed in the high court today. The counter was in response to a PIL from advocate R Karthikeyan of Vadapalani, seeking implementation of the CSS.The counter said that the CSS, evolved by the security committee of the high court in 2008, could not be implemented in full force due to unforeseen events and inevitable circumstances that had happened in the high court premises (on February 19, 2009). It would be implemented now in phases, the counter said.In the first phase, the parking areas for advocates, general public and government officials would be demarcated.Checking ID cards would be revived.A plan will be prepared for installation of CCTV at the gates in the first phase, and at the second stage, they would be installed in other places after study and discussion.Financial assistance would also be obtained. The matter will be taken up again on September 29.
