New Delhi: United States’ travel advisory to its citizens against travel to India and Pakistan has worried the Indian Ministry of Tourism.
The Government feels that the warning is unwarranted and has already swung into damage control with a widespread PR exercise.
The Ministry has reportedly told missions to hardsell India as a safe destination for tourists.
Travel and Tour operators in India and abroad are being told to stress on the fact that terror is not an Indian but global phenomenon and that there is no need to single out India.
External Affairs Minister SM Krishna said India would request US to take back the advisory. “If there is an advisory, we will go and talk to the talk to the concern nation to take it back even if it is United States,” he said.
Home Minister P Chidambaram also stressed on the same. “We will ask the MEA to talk to us and ask them to take back the advisory because India is a safe country,” he said.
