A court here today ordered issue of
summons to five witnesses in a sedition case against MDMK
chief Vaiko. According to the prosecution, Vaiko had made an
"objectionable and provocative speech" on October 21, 2008
at an indoor meeting held under the caption 'Eelathil
Nadappathu Enna?' (What is happening in Eelam?). It said the speech amounted to extending support to banned
LTTE and also to stimulate secessionist sentiments and to
enhance the support base for LTTE in Tamil Nadu. When the matter came up before the III Additional Sessions
court, Additional City Public Prosecutor Balamurugan sought
time and the judge posted the matter for November 19. He further ordered issuing of summons to five witnesses
including two police personnel.
