CHENNAI: The city police, who rescued a 22-year-old woman from Mumbai from a car in Neelankarai police limits, are on the lookout for three persons who fled after attempting to sexually harass her early on Thursday morning. According to police, a constable on duty on the ECR between Akkarai and Muttukadu noticed a woman calling out for help from a car that sped past him. He made a vain bid to chase the vehicle and later alerted the police at Kanathur checkpost after finding that the car was proceeding in that direction. A Special Sub-Inspector, who received the information, intercepted the vehicle at the checkpost. When he opened the door of the car, he found three men in the vehicle with a woman. When the SI tried to get the driver to turn off the engine, the three men assaulted him and pushed him down. They also pushed the woman out of the car before fleeing the spot. Police said they identified the woman as Priya from Mumbai. “She had come to Chennai on a tour with her husband’s friend Krishnabai,” said a police official.
